Guess the Fruit!

This is a Maracuja - looks wonderful, Right - well, it is! Really. At the da Silva's Fri evening, she had made a pudding/type dessert with the pulp of this fruit, and the seeds were on top of the bowl of dessert. It was pink when she was done, and tasted wonderful. You even eat those little round seeds. Not good by itself though. The fruit looks like a lemon, but very smooth like this below. It's about 4 inches tall.

And this fruit? A Caju (Cashew) The nut is the stem - which is poisonous until soaked in lye or something - and there is only one per fruit. So,. that is why the cashew is so expensive and so good too. The orange fruit below the stem is also made into a drink - Suco de Caju And believe it or not, it's popular. Not yet with me, but maybe I'll get there. All of this stuff is so fun to learn. Did you have these in Argentina, Chili, Guatamala, Korea, Hungary, Austria, Canada, Scotland? I know they were not in San Antonio or Oakland, or Pittsburgh, probably not in Canada either. Wait - maybe they did have them in Pittsburgh - it's almost like another country. Just Kidding.

OK, you'll all get a taste when you come to visit. Right?

You'd never know such a good nut could come from that.

The fruit or whatever below looks pretty. It looks like it would be hard, like a pumpkin.

"Caju". Looks like an embryo.

embryo? Now that's just Sick! More like the intestinal wall of the GI (gastrointestinal) tract during an endoscopy procedure!

Actually, the fruit is not hard - it's very soft, and you have to use it in one day, or it kind of disintegrates - goes slimy.

wow, I had no idea that cashews came from that! No, we had nothing of that sort in GautEmala! Lots of others stuff though. Keep trying all that food! It sounds so delicious!
