You wouldn´t believe the fun we had graduating these girls from Conducting class. They were so very excited, and especially to get the batons and their very own hymn book, and a real certificate. They received their little digital pianos and the manuals as well - and a case for them also. It was Christmas for them. I had each of them choose one song -one of the 30 more difficult to lead one verse for us. The other lady there is the Area Presidents secretary - Sister VanOrman - from Utah also. She is in charge of these instruments and the records. They gave me flowers, and we furnished Pao de quejo and suco for cafe da manha (bread with cheese and juice for breakfast- I can´t put the accent marks on because it won´t be right on the blog html stuff)
Anyway, one of the girls, Silvia, (didn´t make it on time for the ceremony) has had such trials in her life, which I won´t go into in detail but at the present her trial is cancer. Skin cancer that has been so deep in her nose that they took out part of it and did some skin grafting. She is the most giving and compasionate person - if you knew her story you would feel as we do about her. The other girl with problems, and still faithful in every way is Helena. I can´t wait to share their stories someday - each of them.
Well, the next class begins in January, and it is 6 men this time. One of them is in our office - Marcos. The others, I haven´t a clue who they are. In the meantime, I need to schedule every lunch hour with teclado lessons for the girls.
Their Hymn book has at least 100 less hymns because of translation, but they love the music and love to sing, even if they haven´t had much music in their lives, they are loving it so much now. Brazillians know the hymns, and love them. (They just can´t sing on pitch) Well, we love what we are doing, and are off to Santa Maria for PEF training this weekend. hey, we get a car, hotel, food and a plane trip. Maybe we can see the flooding from the air. It was so bad and hasn´t receded yet. Our man Wilson across the hall from us (the welfare director for Brazil) is down there now accessing the situation and how the church can help.

Oh my, you look like the FUNNEST, CUTEST most WONDERFUL missionaries! I love the conducting classes...and just so you still remember...some of us Americans love music, but can't sing on pitch either! You look great! We sure love you guys!
Nevitts
I have to agree with "Ba-Renda" (that's how Bro. Nevitt says her name), you guys are awesome. And lets hear about your trip to Santa Maria.
I can just see you teaching the music to the people! You are the perfect one to do so. I love blogs! This way I don't have to wait for an update from Ruth or David who we rarely see or talk to. Ü I wish I could see one for all my past friends that I miss so much. (I just discovered Nevitts blog!) It sounds like you are having a blast on your mission. I look forward to going someday.
Love ya, Jerri
OK, we are blown away that the Nevitts and Gibsons made comments. Actually we loved it and now we know another blog to lurk around in - when we have time. We just got back from Santa Maria - but that's another long story for another time. Love you all too - won't eternity be fun to be able to always chat together?
