Here are the kids' costumes, which have been conjured up in their little brains for at least six months now.
Eric's was the hardest because he had the most rules. ("Mom, the school says, 'no blood, no guts, no gore. No weapons. And nothing that looks dangerous'.") He's a scientist. Not "mad", not crazy, zany, or funny. "Just a Scientist."

Bruce and I suggested "don't you want funky hair?" Or, a cool flask with something bubbling over? Test tubes? A machine of some sort that you are working on? Nope. Just the basic not-to-be-stared-at scientist.

Caleb likes to go all out- He's Indiana Jones, and each piece was strategically planned. "He carries his whip in a circle, so I need my whip
attatched in a circle." And he quietly tells me "My hat is slightly too large." So I shoved some extra foam along the brim, but then, "It is just a little to tight now, mom." So I trim it down. perfect. And then, " It would be cool to have a beard like him." So out comes the mascara, and Caleb thinks it looks "so real!".

Little Red Riding Hood (she even has treats for
Dwanny in that basket). Do you like her cute apron? I found it on
ebay, but I still say I sewed it myself. It was listed as a child's apron, but it hung down below my knees. So I redid it all. Even had to redo some of the embroidery, but it turned out just fine. Crisis resolved. I let all the grief counselors go home early that day.

"Caftan Hook" and his crocodile. Refuses to carry the hook, "No, too scary Momma.".

"This is the
BEST night ever!"
P.S. Remember the spider from last year? We hung it up again, and got some great reactions.
The best was last night, though- it dropped on my neighbor (whom I love) and she started attacking the spider furiously! I had to grab the borrowed eggs out of her hand which she was returning to me so they wouldn't break! The screeching was heard throughout the neighborhood and she vowed "I'm going to get you, Becky!".
But I'm not
eeeeeven scared.

Well done, guys!!
Did you get lots and lots of candy?
We had candy for our appetizer at breakfast this morning. Well, we didn't call it that, but we did sample lots before eating breakfast burritos about an hour later. So fun!!! Tasty too!!
Caleb, you are an awesome Indiana Jones. We haven't even seen that movie yet. Fun costumes. I agree - it is the BEST night ever.
Ahhh Halloween - such fun memories for the future. Even for the Not-to-be-stared-at Scientist. That apron is darling - perfect for a Miss Kara. But Dad likes the I.J. character best. His kind of man.
I think the spider thing tho takes the cake for every year - along with the mooning pumpkin man.
Becky, you sure can take some nice pictures! Love the costumes! I just put some Halloween photos of the kids and our all-adult Halloween party. ("adult Halloween party" seems to insinuate something else.)
Also, have you checked out my sister Nancy's photo blog? She does a great job. I want to fly her to wherever we are living soon so she can take our pictures.
