And Kara, it was very light PINK!!

(warning: Bad scanning job follows)
(circa 1996)
What I neglected for 12 years to do:

Return to the SLC temple (where we were married) to do a session with Bruce. (Granny Lloyd calls it "THE" temple, so as to dispell any confusion).
For our 12th anniversary, Bruce took me on a lil' getaway to SLC yesterday & today. ("aww")

And, today we finally did do a session. I of course reflected upon my wedding day: I'm sure I must've had a deer in the headlights expression on my face until I was in the sealing room, with all the family. (No, FYI, I wasn't nervous. I just didn't want to whip my head around and disturb my hairdo.) So many hugs from people and it pulls your veil, hair, head backwards. See? dumb thing to remember, but I do. ("I do" hee hee)
The wedding day was a whirlwind, being #38 out of 79 weddings that day in THE temple (see, now you know which one I'm talking about). I could hardly take in the gorgeousness of the Bride's room. So many moms, workers, and brides. "Come this way, dear. Sit here, bride. #38, we're ready for #38- you may make any last minute adjustments to your hair in here." (Huh? does it need it? That adds to the stress when a temple worker says that.)
So naturally, among other things to pontificate upon, I wanted to see the Bride's room. What color was it? I don't even remember where it is. Someday, won't I want to tell Kara these important details? (which are so foggy to me) (because I couldn't/wouldn't turn and look around and take it all in). I was hopeful that seeing the room would evoke some distant memory.

And guess what? It was gorgeous- more than I ever remembered! 12 years ago, I only recalled seeing white everywhere, getting bumped from dress hoops, and the height and curliness of the updo's. Today I beheld the softest, prettiest lighting, with full mirrors, ornately carved carpet. A delicately painted picture of a mother and very young daughter (with a piano in the background) was hanging in the far end. The beauty of the room was so great I dared not step on that delicate carpet with my piercing heels. I could only gawk from the door. Yes. This is the room I wish I had to myself that day. I had it to myself today, and it was wonderful. Not another soul.

(Circa today)

So, that's just one eensy memory that I conjured up from the depths. All the rest I shant share, because I like you all too much to bore you.

So Bruce, thanks for taking me there today and especially 12 years ago. I really, really like eternity with you.

Man Becky, I don't know if I should laugh or cry! :) What a fun experience, it makes me want to go look at the bride room at THE temple too. Did you take that last picture of THE temple? It looks like it should be a post card or something. You've got skill. Not that this would even compare to the temple experience, but did you get to see the new Indiana Jones movie too?

Wow, what a wonderful anniversary present. I actually have only been back to THE temple when one of the kids was married there. My memories of that temple are the same, many many brides, not much individual time. Well, we love you Becky & Bruce and are happy we have you for eternity. Keep up the pace!

OK, guys, I have never been to THE temple, (for a session) only for your weddings--not yours, tho, Becky, I was 10 days out from delivering Jamie). But, what a fun memory for everyone to see it through your eyes. We can all relate. Good job, guys!

I like reading your posts, Becky. Very funny stuff. Man, they need a "groom's room" in there too... Women get everything.

Mikenzie, I did take that last picture of THE temple, although I had to wait 1/2 hour for people to quit walking in front of my frame. I think they need a time limit for how long you can reflect at the reflection pond...

And we did go see Indiana Jones the night before, it was awesome. So far-fetched and typical. Eric and Caleb can't believe they don't make it rated G so they can see it. Caleb's eyes were petrefied as Bruce told him about the ants....

And Scott, who would clean the grooms' room? (That's probably why there is no such thing, har har.)

Alright alright, enough about "THE" temple! St. George is "THE" temple because they actually care about the brides going through. I had the brides room all to myself (well, one other girl) and it was awesome! And you can tell Kara that my room was very very light pink!

Well, appreciate the good 'ol USA! When members of the church get married here, they have to get married civily and then they only have 12 hours or less to get to the temple to be sealed---stressful! The laws of the land don't recognize a temple marriage as being legal and binding. I think it'd be fun to have two weddings--then I could walk down the aisle and hear everyone singing "How do you solve a problem Like Barbara!!!" Yeah I'd like to have a Sound of Music wedding and pick out my own dress! Congrats on making it back to THE Temple--it is a beauty.
