Broke the Streak

Today a record was broken, that had stood for almost 30 years. No one in my current nuclear family, including myself, had ever scored a goal in an organized soccer league. Caleb smashed the record today by scoring TWO goals. These were not random events caused by the ball accidentally bouncing off of his back into the goal (we had prayed for at least a lucky bounce for the kids)--they were honest goals, where he got the assist, dribbled it down, and booted it purposefully RIGHT into the goal! You should've seen the grin on his face--it was priceless. You would've thought he'd just won the World Cup. Becky and I were yelling "GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!"

The only down side to this big achievement is that it was a bitter pill for Eric to swallow. This kind of thing is hard on an older brother's ego.

Bruce, that's ok, because Eric will make a great ballet performer on broadway someday! (remember his two choices!).

Yea for Caleb! :) I'm a soccer-er, too. All my life growing up but I was usually playing defense so not many goals for me. BUT I still remember very well a goal I got when I was young. What an awesome feeling!...But I also know the jealous feeling...especially when ReNae puts the queen on my during hearts. Whiiishh! (That's me throwing my cards across the room) "This game sucks!" (Pardon the bad language) So I feel for Eric, too. :(

Hey Becky/Bruce, I think it's just fine for innocent kids like Caleb to pray for things like scoring a goal. On my 2nd pine wood derby, Dad asked me to say the blessing on the food right before going to the church for the race. In the prayer I also prayed that I would win the pine wood derby, and I did!

Anyway, glad to see the streak is broken, and that at least someone's prayers are being answered!

All right "all a ya'lls.!" I gots lots to say! First of all, congrats to Caleb! That is so awesome. I too know the feeling. You should have seen the grin on my face in Basketball in HS when my 'one in a million' shot went in. Yes it feels good. Alot! It's no wonder Eric can't play soccer, do you guys remember at our family reunion when we played kickball and it was Becky's turn to kick and GUESS WHO KICKED RIGHT OVER THE BALL AND MISSED IT COMPLETELY!! Yup, Becky. Was the funniest thing I've ever seen. (Next to Jared tossing his grapes.) I guess it was because the ball was coming tward her at a lightening speed of 2 mph. I Love you anyway Becky!
And that Kathy over there in Alby, hearts just isn't your game. (sorry about the queen, but it's so fun to do that!!) Well, I gots to go, it's sunday and I have to be there by 8:30. c-ya

My turn. I love reading all your comments. GREAT job, CALEB! I would have loved to have seen that! And Eric, I am proud of you for sticking it out! I have never scored a goal, or a basket or a touchdown or a home run. But one time I got a double bogey and then a triple bogey. (Maybe I was par for the course, but on the computer :) ). That's about as good as I get! Oh, yah, and I have had a yahtzee before!! Good for me!!!

I can't believe all these comments. They are just so funny. Yes, Caleb deserves that goal, and Eric just has to buck up and do it. Golly Becky, you must feel so slighted with ReNae's comment - or was it rick? Whoever it was, Becky can play again and I bet someone else will goof up! Can't wait to see who!!!

Man, our family is just a bunch of big dorks. Where was I during the whole "rod" incident, I don't remember that. And Becky, Jana does more than hurkies. She can yell a mean chant from the ground. C'mon Jana, you remember..."Take him down, lay him flat, pin his shoulders to the mat." Maybe you and Barbara can show us all at the reunion. RAY SAPPINGTON? Good one Becky!! Do you think people are talking about the Brooks' on their blogs?

Hey, about this family reunion thing? So, what are we doing and do we have any assignments? and anything else we need to know, and what days is everyone going to be there and......
Love, ReNae

You guys talk about cheerleading so much you should create a dance/cheer for us at the reunion! We all know that you would be making fun of it but secretly LOVING it! :)

Becky, it was Howard Esterlien. Now, he was a looker. Jana really lucked out having a hotty like him. mmm-mmmm. Man, what would life be like today????

Alright Jana, it's funny, all of the sudden you are the butt of the jokes. We love you and I'm glad you never gave thay guy a chance. Don't worry Jay, he ain't got nothin on you!

Yes Kathy, we secretly love cheerleading. That's why I record every episode of NCC. (Jana, that's National Cheerleading Competition.) I think one time this year when I babysat Becky's kids for a day that's what she was doing at home - practicing her moves. Kathy, I've seen you throw down a few arm movements when you finally win settlers or hearts or spades!

Kathy you and I are the only "normal" sisters! Cheerleading is a wimpy sport. In fact it's not even a sport! So at the reunion while all ya'lls are busy looking "cute" and "practicing your moves", Kathy and I are going to be doing the real stuff with everyone else!

But I still love you all so much even tho you did cheerleading! Anyways TTFN (jana, that means ta-ta for now)!

FYI (For your information):
Becky you now have the record for the post that has generated the most comments (17 comments!). I think the previous record was 10, so you shattered it. Sweet. Now go do the funky chicken to celebrate...

"We are the Bears,
and we are really kickin'
So C'mon everybody
let's do the funky chicken!"

All right, you guys, I just read these "updates" and wrote you a big funny response but Eli just came over to the computer and deleted it before it got published. So, I will just have to say what dorks you all are and leave it at that. Now go "boogie on down, down" to clean your kitchens or feed your babies or whatever else you do on Wednesdays! I know I've got lots to do and can't hang out on the blog any longer! See ya! P.S. Ray Sappington? I haven't heard that name in like forever. Besides, he was for Barbara.
