O Whats does ya do in the summertyme?

After dropping Miles off at the MTC (we honestly tried to find a few days when Miles was still here to include him but just didn't work out) we headed for the above destination to spend a couple of days. Here's a 21 picture salute to what we did.
Ruth and I went down the Snake River last year but was during high water season and rapids were fantastic. This year the water levels seemed down and so we opted for riding horses instead. Dallin and Ally voted it the best activity. It was quite a remote operation approx. 30 miles north of Jackson and then another 10 or so miles off a dirt road inside of Bridger National Forest. As we were heading out I asked the guide ( newest one they had and had only been with the outfit for about 3 weeks - owned by his fiance's family) if he had ever seen the movie 'Man from Snowy River'. He sure had and then I told him about the scene where what's his name rides his horse down the steep cliff and that's the kind of experience we were looking for. I even told him there would be a little extra in it for him but he just said we wouldn't be doing anything that dramatic.
Nice view of the Tetons shot from Dallins camera using a 32 diopter filter set to 19 degrees with a flux aperture and shutter speed of 400 joules per nanosecond.
They are constructing 5 additional miles of downhill trails that will set to open Summer of 2011.
Decided to give Billies Giant Hamburgers a go one night since they tout themselves as building the Worlds best hamburger. You sit right up to the counter and watch the cooks which is not a good thing since we caught every move they made including running their fingers through their hair which does wonders for adding a little alberto VO5 flaver to the special sauce.
We all gave it a go and tried to break the record of 7 flips off one jump which is unbelievably difficult since you have to start the flips the moment you leave the trampoline. Heck of a workout tho.
I will love him and squeeze him and pet him and call him my very own . . . .
This was prior to heading out - hence the smile. Not so much of a smile a couple of hours later when your groin is stuck in this position and you can't feel your behind and you get off and look like you've never ever ever ever walked before. Thought Ally was going to wet her pants laughing at everyone dismounting and trying to refire the walking neurons again.
Top of Rendevous Mountain - some 10,400 feet up by way of their newest Tram that will hold 100 people and takes 12 minutes to get to the top. Awesome views. The rope behind is pretty close to the sheer drop off that a skier 2 seasons ago went over and cost him his life. Sure made Ruths sphincters tighten when Ally was taking Dallins picture by the rope especially with the wind blowing hard.
She couldn't resist on one of the side hikes we took at the top of the mountain. Had a pretty fun snowball fight for a few minutes anyway.
O give me a home, where the -------------- roam.
We all liked the water crossings the best - and lots of them and some almost deep enough to get your knees wet.
The gondola tram that we took which only holds 6 people comfortably. Very steep and a long way down which didn't sit well with Ruth when it suddenly came to a stop about 200 yards from the top and started to sway back and forth and she announced "You've got to be kidding me". Especially since Dallin had just layed out several mechanical failure scenarios all of which included falls.
Can't go on a hike and not climb at least one tree!
Town square
One of the restrooms at Teton Village and Ally just knows how to seize an opportunity to grab the bull by the horns - or so to speak.
Snake river in the backdrop along with the Tetons.
Boy scouts are always on the lookout for a service project even if its trivial in nature.
Great day on the mountain and no broken bones
Check out them city slickers
Can't go to Jackson Hole without eating here. Best ribs ever.

Hey, that looks like so much fun? Did you ride the horses very long and was it hard to walk afterwards? What I think we need more of in the U.S. is vacation days!! Don't you agreee?
Love, Barbara
