Do you like our new apartment and pets? We love it. Of course there are a few issues with maintanence, and transportation, but all in all it's at least away from cement and noise of traffic. And air conditioned to boot. Our pets kind of have this little knot thingy on their heads. Cute huh!
Today we walked 2 1/2 miles to a park near here(and back for a total of 5 miles) - it truly was so fun to get out of the cement and into the jungle. If there were no Sao Paulo, it would all look like this. Here we are with the Packhams and Calls.
Jane swings through the jungle but forgot she had aged considerably - no good swinging thru trees, but the vines really really are there - everywhere. No wonder monkeys can get away so fast.
This little monkey was so cute, and the park ranger told us that if we had fruit the monkeys would come right up to us for bananas. Next time we will bring them. But it was so truly fun to get away even if we did have to walk far.
After we got back to our street we walked further like 5 blocks to a fruit and meat market, bought some bbq chicken, oranges and the best drink we've had so far on our mmission. They took sugarcane stalks, put them through this masher grinder, collected the juice, and added it to a freshly squeezed lime. It was to die for. Called Caldo de cana. I could drink it every day for every meal and inbetween too. The best part, it was only 5 Reis for both of us. WE WILL DO THE WHOLE DAY AGAIN WITH BANANAS NEXT TIME.

By the way, those things around the little hut to the left are bamboo trees. Our next pictures we send will be much better as we will use our own camera. These were the Calls photos. Forgot to take our own camera we were so excited to just go.
that looks like one amazing way to spend the day. glad you're having fun! love you!
Wow- now it looks like you are in Brazil. And I was expecting to see another Adam and Eve in the bulrushes picture, so when you go back, you'll have to reenact that...
Brooke! 'bout time we hear from you-- do you have a camera? You need to take pictures of beloved BYU. Did you go to the game Saturday? That was an AMAZING game! And we want to see pictures of your roommates even if you are more beautiful than them..
Man, I never saw monkeys in Argentina! Too cool!
And I bet you could do that swinging, Mom. How fun!!
And I also remember teaching people that really did live in places like that hut. Really.
Hey, Becky and I almost posted at the same time.
And Brooke, is it okay if Scott puts your blog at a link here? I blog-stocked you and loved your photos!
Hey, Kathy!!I just found your blog through Amy Price's blog! How are you doing? Your family is growing! It is so nice to know you are doing well. My family is doing well, life is good. I just satred blogging along with my etsy store. Keep in touch!
kathy- yes thats fine. becky, just follow the link and you can see my pictures :-)
Mom, John wears a shirt we got in Scotland that says "Monkeys peel their bananas they don't like the skins!" He loves that shirt. Monkeys are fascinating to us. We saw some at the Edinburgh Zoo. Very entertaining. We also had lemurs running around our feet. One mother had a baby she carried.
Did you tract along the way to the park? And do streeet contacting? Anyone ever ask you bout "the black name tag?"
Great pictures. Go back and take some more of the monkeys.
Got to run and pick up the carpool--I think "collect the children sounds much more proper!"
Bye just now.
Barbara
Jana here. It's late, but I loved the pictures. You swinging on that vine is really a good one, Mom! Have fun!!!
Mom, you best be careful grabbing things that look like vines in the jungle. Most green tree boas look just about that size!
