Happy Father's Day to you who are all fathers! We had a fun and simple day. For dinner, I made a steak sandwich, twice baked potatoes, and sauteed brussel spouts (yes, we ALL like brussel spouts). But my favorite was the dessert. I made Creme Brulee which is in those little ramicans in front of the sandwich. I could eat that everyday! And surprisingly, Creme Brulee is actually really easy. The steak sandwiches, on the other hand, where mediocre and Scott and I both thought we would've just liked the steak without being on anything. Anyway, it was fun to try something new.
Since we have a house of boys and since Scott LOVES fireworks AND since Father's Day is close enough to the 4th of July to find fireworks in our stores, I bought some classics and kid-friendly: sparklers and worms (well, really, they were the only stuff I could buy right now.) The kids loved it, a little nervous at first but then got into it. FYI: You should all morn for Scott a little because when we are in DC, living either in Maryland or Virginia, he can't have any fireworks. They are illegal there all year round! Can you believe that?! Those east coast big brothers! How could they?!
Isn't this a great photo of Jake?! What a face!

Awesome meal, Kath. My kids call creme brulee "phlegm brulee" because my SIL gave me a "gross out cakes" cookbook. So It'll never have the same meaning to them. dorks. Did you use a blow torch on the top?
Isn't Kathy in charge of all the cooking for the farewell, guys?
Oh, and the fireworks picture is cute, but scary! Triple the amount of Scotts running around with fireworks makes me cringe. Ever since he lit one off ON THE CARPET in his bedroom I get anxious around them. ("I don't remember how that funny burned hole got there, mom".)
That's really a long time to be without fireworks! We'll have to stockpile some for you until you get back...
Kathy, good job! Your guys are lovin' life with you, I can tell. You are so fun, too, and make every occasion a great one. Now I've got to try creme brulee some time. I've heard it is so good.

OK Kathy, fireworks are outlawed in Pine Valley too. Nothing is allowed except sparklers and I'm sure our Barney Fife would be around to outlaw them too. Imagine that. Your cookin' skills are always on the move. Great stuff, and cute boys - including Scott.
