Cousins

Needing an immediate cure for the rampant boredom in the children, we decided that a cousin sleepover was in order.

Bruce unfolded the tent in the living room (still 45 degrees at night!)
"Scary Story! Scary Story!" was their unanimous cry. Bruce tells the cremation of Sam McGee. Loved it. I told Joseph my scary story was called "lovers". "Oh brother!" Joseph rolls his eyes and collapses on the pillow. (You remember the lovers who find a hook hand on the car door? It was the perfect level of scariness, because there were no nightmares. And he ended up liking it "even though it had a stupid name".)
And after the story I asked Joseph how long he wanted to stay here, and he replied "I'm going to stay here until the day I die....or at least until next Tuesday."

The next day I learned that Jessica is the perfect houseguest. She set the table (including personalized namecards) and put all the dishes from breakfast in the dishwasher without me knowing. And she sings, dances, entertains Kara, and sprinkles her happiness throughout the whole house. She also confides in me things like "I just don't know what I would do without girly-girl things!" (I told her how much she reminds me of her mother!)

Jana, when you come next week, don't feel bad if I inadvertently compare you to her.

On our walk to feed the goats...

I think the goats really want a kiss from the kids, but could I convince them? NO!

(We told the american goats that their scottish-goat friends that the Murdochs frequent said hello. But they only understood when we said "cheerio".)

How very very fun, and very, very cute! Glad I checked the blog today. Jessica's right: You are the BEST aunt ever! You always do such cool things with the kids. I can remember Mom telling me some scary story about the hook arm on the door handle. I'd have to make up the rest of "lovers" because I don't remember it. Well, you guys have a great week...we'll see you next :)

Man I have never slept in a tent in the house. That sounds like real camping to me. No bugs, your hair doesn't smell like campfire, no "squatting" in the woods... We'll have to try it sometime, although I would miss the stars. I talked to Joseph today, and although he and Jess couldn't find any of the adults for me to talk to, they said that they had "soooo much fun" at aunt becky's!

Well, now that looks so fun. I wish I were a cousin! Man, I don't remember any scarry stories except the one about "it looks like a pumpkin pie with its clothes on! And the headless horseman. Fun. Everyone should have a Jessica around! Cute pictures and cute, adorable kids.
