Seek and ye shall find.

OH MY GOODNESS! Early Saturday morning, Dad took the garbage to the dump and came back with some exciting news: The dumpster contained a new trampoline. NEW! Eric and Caleb were just giddy with glee and the boys went with Grandpa to go extract the glorious gift from the garbage.

They had to act like they were frantically looking for something really important- like my wedding ring- to save face from those who don't normally rummage around in the bins for treasures.

All the parts were found and they headed home.

They put it together excitedly. The 15 foot mat still had fold marks on it, it was so new. The bumper lacked even a scratch! Not one single missing spring! And... it's free. Can evil even exist in the world?

Alas, the reason for abandonment became all too clear. Should that large bend in the frame really be there? (They were so zealous to correct the defect that it snapped while restoring the frame to its original position.)

Well, at least all we have to fork out is dough for the frame.

But. It gets even better. (I'm not kidding.) They had other gifts to distribute. Look who got a BRAND NEW FRANKLIN COVEY planner? Amidst all the rubble. And not even a smidgeon of grime.

So many fun things in the garbage. Hey- any of you find anything cooler than this in the trash? (Curb finds don't count, although that's where we found our first beloved piano.)

It makes you wonder what the story was behind the trampoline doesn't it? How could it have gotten such huge bends unless it'd been dropped from a tall building? I mean.

Ummm, stories.. Art used to get old donuts out of some dumpster behind some donut shop back when he was a single starving college student. I bet Heather would have more gems.

Whatever, you guys! Ok, we retrieved a great girl's bike from the dump once, but the owner was standing there and offered it to us prior to chucking it over the edge. So we weren't digging for treasure. Too bad it didn't work out for you guys, that must've been exciting!

Doughnuts?

Hey did you ever see that Seifeld episode where George sees a doughnut in a garbage can -on top- and gets caught taking a bite out of it? I'm sure that's what Art was thinking...
