I finished making a full over twin bunkbed for the kids this weekend and they were so excited to sleep on it. Of course, the first thing they did was jump on the bed so Jacob hit his head on the ceiling and Sam hit his head on the underside of the top bunk. I bought some plans that showed how to make it from 2x6 and 2x4 lumber. I finished it with golden pecan stain and 2 coats of polyurethane. It looks nice. I haven't finished the roll-out drawers that go underneath the bottom bunk yet. We'll be able to store a lot of junk (toys, winter clothes, etc) under there (yeah!).We went to a free airshow this weekend on Kirtland AFB where I work. You get what you pay for - actually it was more of a display...no aircraft were actually flying. Most of them were vintage war birds, but they also had the v2-osprey, an F-16, an HC-130 combat rescue airplane, several helicopters, and an old P51 Mustang. The boys like the vintage jeeps a lot. Jacob took the photo of me and Sam - not to bad for a 4-year old.

Yeah! I get to be the first one to comment on these cute photos!
Scott, that is so awesome that you made those beds. your boys will have so much fun on those. Thanks for posting those cute pictures. I love those evening bedtime moments when they are tired and actually listen. You are such a great dad. Cute, cute pictures!
Awesome beds Scott! Say did you learn that from, uh, nevermind, I cna't remember the old shop guys name in Jr. High. Looks fun though!
I don't know the jr. high shop teachers name, but he probably learned if from Mr. Ralph Padeeeeeeee!
You're the bestest Dad - they'll love you forever. I assume you're working on the puppy bed that goes on the end of the bunks now. Dad
That Jr. Hi teacher might have been Mr. Crabbe! Remember the crabby man?
From Mom - you rock Scott. What a fun looking bed (s). Gosh, the boys are really talented in this family. Making everything good. Keep photos coming. Put some velcro on the ceiling. Maybe he'll stick there.
Scott. You have good bedmaking skills. (Mom will take credit for saying so many times,"Scott, come make your bed!")
And the boys are so cute all interested in that book.
Just a little tidbit for you: Bunk beds will always scare Bruce because his best friend's little brother slept on the bottom bunk. And that's where he proudly kept his "Booger Wall", right out of the sight of his mother...Just warning you, Kathy.
The thought of a "booger wall" makes me dry heave! YUUUUUUCK! I'll make sure I check on that regularly!
Hey, Jared, I only had Padia for that short study hour or what ever it was. I never took shop in high school, but I did take it in Jr. High from what's his name...can't remember... Ron Shuler, I think was his name, but he was a good guy.
At least, for some reason I seem to remember that he was on dad's side when things were going down in Coolidge Unified School System ("CUSS") for a few years there.
Remember when big ol' pharmacy dude, Pat what's his name (sorry, can't remember his name either!), and the art teacher, and school board members were getting all up in dad's business (that's ebonics for "really annoying"), trying to sue and everything...
I don't remember that. Where was I??
j/k of course
I love the airshow photos. Looks like Jake and Sam got haircuts too. They're definitely cute kids and must love you for taking them to the planes. Just makes me laugh always - you and the weaponry stuff. Mom
And, Becky - that is the grossest booger stuff ever. I'm sure Kathy will tripple check always. Bruce- you're paranoid.
Shuler!!!! That's his name. (God bless Shuler) (Duh, from sound of music, I'm surprised you didn't know that) He was there when I was in Jr. High also. However, I didn't take shop. I had home-ec from dorky calloway! But she was better than Dearborn. I don't think bruce is paranoid! I'd have to say that if it involves boogers - just avoid it all together.
You guys are funny!
