What do you think happened to Spencer?

Saturday we were just about ready to go to the train station to take a trip into Edinburgh to go shopping at the German market, but we had one small problem ... can you guess what that problem was? -- David

Ummmmm.... you had a fire? Your cat got stuck up in the tree? I'm clueless (not generally, just in this instance). Nice picture though.

I'll bet it was Spencer that got stuck in the tree. . .

Answer: We were just about ready to leave for the train station to do some Christmas shopping in Edinburgh when we discovered that Spencer couldn't get out of the bathroom; the lock on the door had broken and we couldn't open the door. The bathroom window only opened about 5 inches so he couldn't climb out that way. We passed some tools into him to have him remove the pins from the hinges but he couldn't get them out. We tried to remove the door handle but without success. In desperation we decided to call 999 (US 911) and it was the firemen to the rescue. I pictured them having to saw the door in half or something but I was wrong. It turns out there is an emergency latch on the window in case of fire (or getting locked in) that the firemen showed us how to use (yes we were very embarrassed). They had Spencer out in about 4 minutes for which we were very grateful. They were very nice about the entire incident and even let the family shoot water from their fire hose. The funny thing is, John wont use this bathroom anymore because "that’s that bathroom you get locked in!"

So, I'm with John. If you get locked in of course it should be on a school day. So that picture is the fire truck and the helpers who resc ued Spencer. Golly - how cool to be rescued and have no injuries. Grandma
