Any Trekkies out there?

So here's a photo of us from our annual Halloween party we had today. Kathy made a witch costume from lots of clothes she got at the thrift store (made her own witch hair wig too); Jacob is Optimus Prime (Transformers), Sam was Superman, but he took off most of his costume just before this photo, and I'm Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek (Next Generation). So...am I the only Trekkie in this fam, or what? I'm not really a trekkie, but I thought I could pull off the impersonation, since i have about as much hair as that guy did...

We had a doughnut eating contest for the kids and then the adults. Yeah, we pretty much got our annual dose of sugar in a single day. (last night was our Ward's trunk-or-treat, so i've been raiding the kid's stashes).

We finally got out our mooning man out too (won't post another photo though as it is exactly the same as last year - click here for the photos) and Kathy made another window/paper silhouette thing of a headless horseman. Maybe she'll post a pic soon.
Love ya,
Scott

Kathy, that witch costume is incredible! I love the hair...and the eyeballs, and the snakes, etc. You are so good at making things. Scott, you look just like Picard. What fun people you are. Cute boys, too!!

Scott and Kathy, you should know by now not to post without telling us all the details. Did you make the hat? Is your hair made from yarn? Hurry and post the headless horseman. I'm curious to see if it is the same silhouette I pulled up - but of course you'll change it for the better....

Scott, you are so awesome to wear that costume!! You look just like that Han Solo guy from Star Trek! j/k!!!!

Fun Party!

OK it was late when I published the post and didn't want to take the time to 'splain it all... so here's the rest of the details:

Kathy's costume is like 90% homemade - she bought the hat then garnished it with the green sparkly thingy; The hair is yarn weaved into a hair-dyeing cap and then frayed at the ends (I think?); the clothes came from the thrift store and then she cut jagged edges on them cuz, you know, that's more scary; the necklace she made with plastic eyeballs that she bought (I drilled the holes - Yeah!) and she strung them on some fishing line; she had a necklace that she made from little rubber snakes / lizards; and of course she "just had too" buy black and orange striped socks and some pointy black shoes to complete the outfit. So maybe it was more like 50% custom made, and 50% purcahsed stuff... kathy can give you more details than that. Oh yeah, I think she got the eyeballs and the earrings at the dollar store, but she'll have to verify that. Also, she had some sparkly green makeup (eyeliner???) for her eyelids, and funky Halloween colors fingernail polish. all in all, a way easy and totally simple costume - NOT! (just like that shirt that Becky used to wear in High School)

Me? black sunday pants and shoes + way cool star Trek costume (Ebay) = easy, fairly cheap, low effort, reusable halloween costume.

That hair was totally in my face the whole night but it was fun. I couldn't be witch with my regular hair, which would be nonexistent in a hat. Those earrings were initially Christmas ornaments that I altered.
I had (and still have) this great lime green finger nail polish that was cool too. A few kids were scared of me at the ward Trunk-or-treat.
