Happy Sunday

Hello, my wonderful family,

I haven't heard from most of you in a long time and since there aren't any new "blogs" I guess it's my turn. I just got a really funny email from my old friend, Kari (Downey) who has recently moved to Mexico with her husband and kids for a short term (2-3 yrs.) job assignment. They are experiencing a new culture and she is so descriptive and thorough about it all that I was totally amused and laughing out loud. Funny.

So how is everyone? Scott, I heard you were in China. You'll have to tell us about that. Probably school has started for most of you. How did that go? We begin Sept. 6 for some and Sept. 7 for the others. Summer has been so fun, it is sad to see it end.

Let's see....Justin gave a talk in primary today, Jayson spoke in Sacrament meeting, and the YW and leaders did a musical number. There are two little boys getting baptized tonight and I am pianist. We ate fresh garden green beans with our dinner and that was delicious. Even Eli liked them. By the way, he makes his own version of mate' every night while brushing his teeth. He takes a small bathroom cup and fills it with water. Then he sticks his toothbrush in it, bristles down. While lowering his lips to the toothbrush handle, he says, "Look! I'm having Mah-tay!" Well, it was really funny the first time he did it. It resembles the stuff quite well.

OK, time to go. Tomorrow we are canning peaches (we picked them on Friday and that was so easy that I will never buy them pre-picked again. Cheaper, too) and Tuesday evening Jay and I are taking the Mia Maids boating. Bummer, I just found out that it will probably rain that day! It hasn't rained in weeks, and now our plans could be spoiled. We'll see. I hope you are all doing well and enjoying your families.

Hugs and kisses, Jana

hey Jana - nice to hear from you about all that is going on with your family. Yes I was in China for 2 weeks for work, and I'll probably post a pic or two about it later tonight. That reminds me - if you have digital photos from the reunion, please put some on a CD and mail it to me. I don't need any more photos of the group / family pictures, but I'll take anything else you have got from the reunion or funeral. Love you!

'bout time someone writes! I think everyone is a little busy, except Becky. Well, Joseph gave a talk in primary too. The choir sang in church and I was their pianist. Julie sat the entire time through Sac. meeting and Jessica is too old for her age! I hope the teens never hit. I'm liking primary chorister a little more each week. It helps when you know the kids actually like you. Rick is so excited about the open archery season of the elk hunt he can't stand it. He's been out once or twice and loves it, no luck yet. Yup, the kids started school and we walk everyday, they ride their bikes, it's so fun! I love you guys, send your kids here again for efy, it was so fun having them. Hi Eli!
P.s. we're having our mah-tay tonight too!

So...do they still cancel school for few days during elk season? When I did student teaching years ago in Utah, that's what they did then. I was personally greatful for the little break, but was amazed at what a big thing it was for some people there. Good luck, Rick!! And Scott, Jay made a CD of reunion pictures and I think he even set it to music. Do you want a copy of that? Or I can just send you some of our pictures of the funeral and other pics from the reunion. Heck, you could have both since you're such a nice guy. But it may take me a little while, unless I have Jay do it and then, yeah, I guess that's what I'll do. So, have a great day everyone!

Way to go Jana & Jay, and everyone for being so fun with your families. I hope Rick shoots an elk this year. He's tried and tried other years. I'd just like to know what an Elk steak tastes like. You all should ask Becky about the "Derby". Mom

OK, I will. Becky, what is the derby?
