Only 3 more days left!!!

I am READY for summer to begin. Our kids are still in school, but there are only 3 school days left (ok, Brooke and Jayson have 4) then we can focus on summer activities. We are looking forward to the reunion, seeing everyone again and spending lots of time together.

Last night Jamie had her first sleepover party here at our house with three girls from school and they were great! I reminded them that this is a "sleep" over not a stay-up-all-night-over and they all fell asleep by 11:30 and got up at 6:00 and were outside jumping on the trampoline. They were very cute coming home yesterday, as they all rode Jamie's bus and came giggling down the driveway each with a violin in hand as all four girls are in orchestra together. They were very sweet, easy to please and I'm glad it went well because I usually dread sleepovers. Eli especially enjoyed it because these girls were all over him, mothering him, playing with him, laughing at his comments, and constantly saying, "he's so cute!" which made him show off even more.

We're going to the dance festival rehearsal tonight (the youth are preparing for the "big" event on June 24) and it will be a great show. Tonight's rehearsal is only on a stake level, but the big one involves 14 stakes and is in Portland. Remember David and Barbara when we all danced in that festival at Sun Devil Stadium and did some western dance? I thought our costumes were so cool because our dresses were so full and were great for spinning around in. This festival will be awesome and I love the African dance Brooke is in. Very cool! Then there's several hundred deacons doing "Napolean Dynamite" and a swing dance, celtic dance, Latin dance, Asian ribbon dance (the beehives) and more. It is all focused around family history somehow and it will be great seeing how it all comes together. Well, I've got to go prepare a lesson for tomorrow and get things in order before we leave. Can't wait to see you all!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JAMIE! It's so nice that you lived to be 10 and so cute and talented. Anyway, we can't wait either Jana to see all of you and especially Eli. Hope he likes coming too. We are still not unpacked all the way. It will take a while, but we are almost ready for all of the family to come. Have fun dancing Brooke and Jayson

Jana! I would bet that you are going to video tape that dance festival, right? Well, you should bring it to the reunion for all of us to check out. I remember being in a dance festival back in the day. I had so much fun, although unlike you and Barbara and David, I hated the custumes. They were UG-O! Anyway, bring it if you can.

That's awesome that they even still do dance festivals. I was in one too. Laura, Jaimee and I all had partners from Florence. Mine was a hotty, I can't remember his name though. Man, Brooke and Jayson, you're gonna have so much fun. And yes, the costumes are great. Well, can't wait to see you at the reunion.

OK so I was in a dance festival too. It was held in Salt Lake, and my partner and I were walking back one night after rehersal, and this car full of boys stopped and made some snide comments to us, and Robert (my boyfriend at the time) made another comment back to them, and well - a fight ensued, there was blood, and I was scared out of my wits. Fortunately they left after the nosebust. Brother, my memories are mixed. The costumes were great tho, and it was so fun. Way to go Brooke and Jayson on dancing for FUN! Grandma

I remember seeing the dance festival that David, Jana, and Barbara were in - Mostly I just remember that the stadium was REALLY tall / steep (to me), and man it seemded like there wasn't room enough for all the dancers on the floor. The costumes were really colorful, (lots of ruffles) and I remember David had that awesome perm!

By the way, speaking of these memories reminds me of one of the deep thoughts by Jack Handey (SNL):

...The memories of my family outings are still a source of strength to me. I remember we'd all pile into the car - I forget what kind it was - and drive and drive. I'm not sure where we'd go, but I think there were some trees there. The smell of something was strong in the air as we played whatever sport we played. I remember a bigger, older guy we called "Dad." We'd eat some stuff, or not, and then I think we went home. I guess some things never leave you.

Hey, by the way, I'm not just throwin down nick names out for myself. For all you in-laws, Uncle Lynn used to call me pinky, and Grandpa Hansen called me cherub, cuz that's just how sweet and innocent I am, I was and always will be :)!

Well, I wish I could bring some pictures of our famous dance festival but we didn't have cameras back then that had a zoom on the lens, and mom's camera was always out of film anyway. Right mom, I still remember what your camera looked like. It was the shape of a rectangle and about an inch and a half thick and we could use it to whack some one on the head. Maybe that's why it never worked! And grandpa Hansen used to call me "Twinky" because I liked to dance. I still do to. Man sometimes we turn on the tunes and dance while we do dishes. It is way fun!! You should all try it. "twinky" (Barbara)

So that's why we like "tinky-winky" on teletubbies so much...he (or she?) reminds us of our cute little sisters!!! That's the purple one with the triangle on its head.

And ReNae, good job filling up the comment page...you were funny.
