Can YOU Pass the NCLEX-RN test?

I can I can I can!!!! Woo-hoo! I passed my RN test and I am so excited! No more studying, stress, and no more school!!! (there jared, is that enough exclamation points for you!! ha ha). So, just to see how you guys do... I have a few questions to ask you? Let's see if you will pass...

1. The nurse is performing an assessment on a client who is Cachectic and has developed an enterocutaneous fistula following surgery to relieve a small bowel obstruction. The client's total protein level is reported as 4.5g/dL. Which of the followitn would the nurse anticipate?
a. Additional potassium will be given IV
b. Blood for coagulation studies will be drawn
c. Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) will be started
d. Serum lipase levels will be evaluated

2. A client has a serum glucose of 385mg/dL. Which of these orders would the nurse question first?
a. Repeat glycohemoglobin in 24 hours
b. Document Accu-checks, intake and output Q 4 hours
c. Humulin N 20 units IV push
d. IV fluids of 0.9% NS @ 125 mL per hour

3. A hospilatized 8 month old is receiving gentamicin (cidomycin). In monitoring the infant for drug toxicity, the nurse should review which labratory result first?
a. BUN- Blood Urea Nitrogen
b. Thyroxin levels
c. Growth hormone levels
d. Platelet count

4. Which of these clients would be most appropriate to assign to a Practical Nurse (LPN)?
a. A trauma victim with quadriplegia and a client 1 day post-op radical neck dissection
b. A client with newly diagnosed type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and a client with a history of AIDS admitted for pneumonia

Although I didn't just have 5 questions... more like 177 and 4 hours to take it! Tough. But thanks to all of you for your help.

  1. OK, I'm going to give you my answers for the nurss test. I thought it was so fun and I know I would pass it someday too.

    Number 1 - the hectic patient with his fist in a bowl-
    Answer: A - additional pots for iv more times.

    Number 2 - the glue person
    Answer A - The he goblin would be fun.

    Number 3 - The poor baby getting gentle mice
    Answer A = Bums taste better

    Number 4 - the nurse who needs a patient
    Answer A - the victim with a quad since her 3 in one and Bible are not cool anymore, and the guy who has a pop-up neck.

    Number 5 - I didn't know that one, but I got 80 percent right. Right? Mom

  2. Karina! That is so awesome!! Very exciting to get that lame test out of the way!! I hate test-taking and was never good at it. But way to go, sista!
